Mogcook stands out from other baby food delivery services due to its unique properties and strengths. Firstly, all the fish provided by Mogcook is meticulously cut and deboned, ensuring a hassle-free and safe eating experience for babies. Each portion is carefully measured to be approximately 10g, which is considered an ideal amount for a baby's meal. Furthermore, Mogcook exclusively sources its fish from Mie Prefecture, known for its high-quality seafood, and only selects fish caught during their peak season to guarantee freshness and flavor. To ensure convenience, the fish is delivered frozen after being steamed, allowing users to easily heat and cook it.
In addition to the fish itself, Mogcook includes baby food recipe cards and fish information cards in each delivery. These resources are designed to help parents navigate the world of fish-based baby food and provide them with inspiration and knowledge on how to prepare nutritious meals for their little ones.
The realization of Mogcook does not rely on cutting-edge technology, but rather on the expertise and skills of the local community. The fish is hand-cut by experienced ladies who have worked in fish shops for over 50 years, ensuring precise portioning and the preservation of the fish's natural flavor. These skilled individuals are also able to leave the fish unskinned, as the skin contains rich flavor and nutrition, showcasing their exceptional abilities.
Every fish delivered by Mogcook is supervised by a registered dietitian to ensure that it is safe for babies to consume. This is particularly important as certain types of fish can cause allergies in infants, and Mogcook takes great care to avoid these allergenic varieties. The registered dietitian also provides users with baby food recipes, eliminating the need for parents to search for suitable fish recipes in books or on the internet.
Operating Mogcook is simple and user-friendly. Upon receiving the delivery, users can store the fish in their freezer. When it's time to cook, they can easily retrieve a portion from the freezer, as the fish is deboned and ready to be prepared. Additionally, the steaming process ensures that the fish retains its nutrients, making it an excellent choice for a baby's meal.
The Mogcook project was initiated in September 2013 in Mie and officially launched in July 2014. One of the main challenges faced by the designers was the declining knowledge and familiarity with fish among their target customers. To address this, Mogcook includes baby food recipe cards and fish information cards in each package, aiming to educate and empower parents to confidently cook fish-based meals for their babies.
Mogcook's innovative approach to introducing fish into the diets of babies has not gone unnoticed. In 2019, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Meta, Strategic, and Service Design category. This prestigious accolade recognizes the outstanding creativity and ingenuity of Mogcook, which combines art, science, design, and technology to improve the quality of life for parents and their children.
